Oil seals, often called a rotary shaft seal or grease seal, closes the gap between stationary and moving components in mechanical equipment - most often rotating shafts - helping prevent lubricant escape and stopping harmful materials, such as dirt, from moving in through the clearance. Oil seals are most commonly used in gearboxes, hydraulic cylinders, and related components.
Material selection is important to the life of a radial shaft seal. The elastomer's resistance to temperature, abrasion, chemicals, weather, sunlight, and ozone can affect a profile's longevity and performance. Materials usually are NBR (Nitrile), FKM, Viton®, HNBR, EPDM, SIL, CR, ACM, VMQ, PTFE, low temperature and low-friction material grades.The two most prevalent materials are Nitrile and Viton.

Primarily for applications with no pressure or very low pressure up to 7psi (0.5bar) spikes. General purpose seal for oil and grease retention for power transmission, motors, pumps, gear boxes, fans, machine tools and others.
Maximum Pressure: 3psi (0.2bar) continuous, 7psi (0.5bar) max. pressure spikes depending on shaft speed
Temperature: -50 to 200°C, depending on seal material
